Description
Troll sat alone on his seat of stone,charcoal and soft pastel
And munched and mumbled a bare old bone;
For many a year he had gnawed it near,
For meat was hard to come by.
Done by! Gum by!
In a cave in the hills he dwelt alone,
And meat was hard to come by.
J. R. R. Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. Book I, Chapter 12: Flight to the Ford
An illustration based on the light-hearted Sam's rhyme of the troll, sung when the four hobbits and Strider find the three trolls which had turned to stone long before during Bilbo's adventure.
It was made for a monthly contest "Night creature" at Projekt ilustrace. Now you can see why I was so curious about the song and inquired about it in my latest journal (which, alas, only silamir answered). Eventually it didn't matter for my illustration as I drew it, but still I wonder what you think about the problem I put forth there, so I'll be glad if you comment on it.

The poetry recorded , especially in THE ADVENTURES OF TOM BOMBADILL, one of my favorite books, ranges from light-hearted, to sad & thought-provoking (The Last Ship, Frodo's Dreme.
I question whether I had any poetic skill, but will go through my fan-fics to see.
